Muscoda, Wisconsin

"Morel Capital"

Muscoda, which means "Prairie of Flowers", is a growing community of 1,332 that is nestled among the rolling hills along the flowing Wisconsin River.

In 1982, Muscoda became known as the "Morel Mushroom Capital" of Wisconsin. Our Morel Mushroom Festival is held each year during the weekend after Mother's Day.

Muscoda has over 100 acres of industrial park. The major industries in the park are: Scot Industries, Universal Silencer, Great Lakes Machining, Meister Cheese, Muscoda Protein, Nelson Hardwoods and Rux Strapping. In the new industrial park, the Muscoda Greenhouse is occupied by Riverdell Organic Produce, which supplies organic tomatoes to area retailers.

Muscoda has over 30 acres of land devoted to public outdoor recreation, including: a swimming pool, tennis courts, ice skating rink, ballparks, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, campgrounds, playgrounds, picnic areas, fishing, river overlook and nature walkways along the river.

A new Riverdale preK-8 elementary school was completed in Muscoda in the fall of 1996. Information technology was an important part of the plan for the new school. Muscoda schools have a Distance Learning Center that links them to Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, UW-Platteville, and 11 other schools throughout the area.
